I met this girl the other day, straight from the east
Some people call her ISLAM, but her name was PEACE
Some call her CHRIST, KRISHNA and BUDDHA
But you wouldn’t need to call her if you really knew her
You would go inside, think of her and be aware
Close your eyes tightly and she’d be there
Some feel they need to find her in their friends
A soulmate, a crack pipe, or a syringe

A bottle of beer, a shot of alcohol
And some be looking for her in a bathroom stall
Writing on the wall, playing basketball
While others find her just by giving a call
To a family member, or in December
Reminiscing on memories, that they remember
Holidays, lotsa love and a big feast
She said that’s where you’ll always find me....so....PEACE !!!

That her sister was LOVE, and her best homie
Was CONTENTMENT, commitment to being in bliss
But most people searching for her didn’t recognize this

But PEACE was nameless, tasteless and faceless
And hate-less, disgrace-less and what’s even more
Some try to find PEACE by going to war

WAR ? No matter what.... she said to me
That killing never brought her she’d only flee
Retreat the other way, death and decay
Never brought her, but really fought her, but maybe someday
Leaders and soldiers control would cease
And they’d sit down with their enemies, and then they’d bring ....PEACE

So I continued to have this conversation
With PEACE, cause she came through meditation
And visualization, her occupation
Was to bring harmony to every nation
She said since the beginning of time
She’s always been sought by the divine
Lived for, explained and often obtained
By silencing the brain, and being well trained

All around the planet, the animals and rainforests
ISIS, OSIRUS, HERU AND HORUS
India, the DALAI LAMA, even BARACK OBAMA
Searched for her, and didn’t want no drama
MANDELA, MLK and the self defense
Of MALCOLM X searching for PEACE makes sense
The NOBEL PRIZE for her, makes them discuss this
And of course, her twin sibling named JUSTICE

DARFUR, IRAQ, IRAN, AFGANISTAN
Are all looking for her, man...
Interpretation in this millenium
Gentile or Jew, ask the Palestinians
Spirituality, or through exile
Newly born baby, eyes of a child
innocent child or not until deceased
We are all searching for her, now... And her name is PEACE....
